Building for Hope 2011 Gala

Eva’s Village Building For Hope Gala was sponsored by Rapid Pump & Meter Service Co., Inc. and Machinery Services Corp., Paterson, NJ.

The event took take place on October 25, 2011 at Mayfair Farms, West Orange, and honored TD Bank for their longstanding financial and volunteer support to Eva’s Village.

Special recognition was given to the construction companies and contractors who have helped to build Eva’s Village over the past 29 years. Joe Piscopo, renowned comedian and entertainer performed as master of ceremonies and auctioneer, opening the evening with his own special (and very funny) New Jersey version of the song “New York, New York”.

This important event raised $630,000 for the many anti-poverty programs at Eva’s Village, particularly the Hope Residence for Mothers and Children.

About TD Bank: TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, is one of the 10 largest banks in the United States, and provides customers with a full range of financial products and services at thousands of convenient locations and ATMs from Maine to Florida.

TD Bank is committed to making a meaningful and positive contribution to the individuals, families, businesses and communities within their marketplace, with employees serving on boards, working with neighborhood groups and donating thousands of hours of volunteer time to numerous civic and non-profit organizations. This community spirit and involvement embodies the very core of TD Bank’s corporate citizenship philosophy.

About Joe Piscopo: Television, film, theater, nightclubs — they’re all fields in which JOE PISCOPO has won the acclaim and affection of millions. For almost 20 years, Joe has proven to be one of show business’ brightest lights. After stints as a disc jockey and dinner-theater performer, Joe turned to comedy. In 1980, he was chosen to join a newly formed ensemble charged with one of the most difficult tasks in TV history-replacing the original cast of Saturday Night Live.

His work on SNL quite naturally led to Hollywood, and starring roles in such smash hits as “Wise Guys” (with Danny DeVito) and “Johnny Dangerously” (with Michael Keaton). Other film credits include “Dead Heat”, “Sidekicks” and the independent feature films “Two Bits & Pepper”, Roger Corman’s, “Demolition Day”, “The Last Request” (with Danny Aiello) and a dramatic, critically-acclaimed performance in Jonathan Parker’s “Bartleby”.

Joe has also recently won acclaim for his dramatic guest-starring roles on the NBC drama, “Law and Order”. You might have also seen Joe on the HBO series “Arli$$”, or as a guest on The FOX News Channel and the nationally syndicated television show, “Extra”. His voice was heard on the Nickelodeon comedy series, “The 1000 Deeds of Eddie McDowd”, and yes, that was Joe as Santa Claus in the ABC-TV Special, “Dear Santa”.

Although his unique talents are in constant demand from show business quarters, Joe devotes an extraordinary amount of time to non-profit and charitable activities. His willingness to perform at benefit functions knows no limits.

Although Joe’s impressive career and public service includes several major accomplishments, he insists his proudest achievement of all is twice being named Father of the Year in 1983 by the National Father’s Day Council, and in 1989 by the New Jersey Council of Children’s Rights. No matter how busy he may be, Joe always makes sure he has enough time to spend at his Central New Jersey home with his children Joey, Michael, Alexandra and Olivia.
